WHY: Hooked on Books was developed to encourage literacy and life-long learning by children that come to the Family Court.
The DC Family Court and the Friends of Superior Court are launching this new initiative to ensure that every child that comes to Family Court is given a book. The program will provide youth of all ages with an opportunity to get hooked on books, to develop a passion for reading that will benefit them throughout their lives. The program will expose children at younger and younger ages to reading, tempt and at times require older children and teens to read, and encourage parents to read to their pre-schoolers.
